I should probably get some archers at some point, though I am considering getting Khergit archers so that I'll still have the overland speed of mounted troops. Also good for when I'm taking running passes at groups of infantry on horseback in actual battles.Īnd, man, battles in general out in the world have suddenly gotten a lot easier - I reached a threshold where most of my army was calvary(about 50 Swadian Knights and Men-At-Arms), and I went from having to double up numbers on my opponents to win to fighting equal number armies and not taking any losses.
Though there is something pretty thrilling about playing chicken with a lancer on horseback, stepping aside from the eight gazillion point couched lance hit at just the last second, and then massacring him in the back with the little knife archers also get.īuying up my Riding skill a bit more seemed to give just enough of an edge to be able to outmanuever enough to be able to end the dogfighting lance duels a little bit still usually takes several tries, but I can corner just a little bit tighter, which is nice. Though I find it is pretty much the kiss of death when I start off on foot, with bow and arrow - pretty much have to just hope someone drops quickly who has a non-ass weapon I can take.
Got a little bit less frustrating once I saw that not all tourneys are lance and horse only tourneys.
